What follows will be a summary, not exact transcript, of the information discussed in the Q&A. Please listen to the VoD for exact wording.
What are you doing to make crafting gear relevant in the expansion past the first month?
Need to make more content, more patches in Legion - and this philosophy extends to professions. In 7.1.5, crafted gear goes up to 865, which is better than gear from World Quests. Also in 7.1.5,
have high-level goggles (
) and shoulder enchants (
Favor del constructor
). has some stuff. Armor crafters are on Blizzard's radar to get more things in the future.
Can we expect to see new recipes in 7.2?
We want more recipes, more stuff to do. That goes for primary and secondary professions as well.
Will you be tuning the Brawler's Guild to a specific item level, or will it scale to be more alt friendly?
Brawler's Guild requires 110 to zone in and is a series of progressively-harder fights. There's no item level scaling, but the easier fights are more approachable.
It's cool to have something in the game where you can return to and perform better at as you get better gear.
Will there be boss HP adjustments based on current player spec, so people aren't forced to spec DPS for later bosses?
Blizzard has thought about ways to bring healers into the mix and not feel disenfranchised; Brawler's Guild is about fighting though. An example of an 7.1.5 event that is healing-focused though is the
Festival del Fluochampiñón
Are there any plans on adding fights later in the expansion for the Brawler's Guild? or like MoP where you get cards and fights?
Maybe! No plans yet. For history, in Patch 5.3 we added several more Brawler's Guild ranks as well as Challenge Cards. Too early to say yet in Legion.
Your favorite Brawler's Guild fight idea that did not make it in?
Mario-themed fight, and a Mega Man themed fight. Strange Things nearly didn't make it in due to weird camera effects causing issues during Q&A. This was moved to be a special challenge unrelated to any achievements.
Could we get an item level bump to Timewalking gear as Legion goes on?
Definitely - no reason Timewalking gear has to stay at the 830 level. In 7.2, the Legion dungeons will have their item levels increased as well.
Any possibility of seeing the revamped Scholomance make it into the MoP Timewalking roster at some point?
Probably not; the holiday is a jump back to the past and flavor of Pandaria. Blizzard went with those dungeons on the continent.
Balancing would be a nightmare, but will we see Timewalking raids?
This is something Blizzard has talked about a lot. Will we ever see it? A safe bet. It's a matter of balance and rebuilding to ensure old raids scale correctly; there are tech hurdles.
Why is it so hard to get
Vidrio vil endurecido
, then have the stats on goggles be random?
These are new higher-tier goggles (
), and the reagents for them drop from bags with new shoulder enchants (
Favor del constructor
). Some mitigating factors are:
Vidrio vil endurecido
is tradable (you can buy it), the goggles are not soulbound so you can sell them.
Something worth expanding on is the idea of time as a cost. If you think about gathered materials, a lot of their expense comes from the time it takes to collect them. They're more expensive now than in the past because in WoD, the Garrison gave you a steady amount without a time investment.
Any plans to make
Escrito de la mente tranquila
cost less in the AH?
Escrito de la mente tranquila
probably cost a little too much right now. The high costs are coming from the herbs needed to grind for the inks, not from the scribes.
Do you think the
Prueba de fuego vil
) requiring wrists of each armor type hit it's intended mark? The wrists are expensive; haven't unlocked the forge yet.
At the start - we thought so. We were happy to see people trading and selling bracers; made use of the social aspects of WoW. However - a few months into WoW, less people are crafting and trading bracers. It is very likely that in an upcoming patch, we will have less gating for the
Any plans to make skinnable mobs multi-tappable, similar to the quality of life changes for miners and herbalists?
Talked about this a little at BlizzCon; there are plans to fix it. However, Skinning is different than miners and herbalists - you effectively can generate your own gathering node.
Why do you think materials are so much more expensive than the end product of crafting?
Materials are more expensive due to the absence of the Garrison - no free herbs or nodes from buildings. There are other factors such as cracking down on gathering bots, it's an ongoing battle.
There isn't much time requirement to crafting compared to gathering (with some exceptions like the
Favor del constructor
example). If you're a crafter that relies on mats that others create; you can just buy them and queue up a bunch of items to craft. The time investment is very small there, so profit margins are smaller.
Could we see leveling Micro-Holidays in the near future? A 1-2 day event, where leveling is heavily rewarded.
The way that current micro-holidays work is that they don't reward any permanent collectible items like mounts or pets or achievements. Leveling would be a pretty good alternate-type reward. As an example - the
Llamada del Escarabajo
micro-event has a lot of quests and incentives that reward beefy experience. It's accessible for players starting in the mid-50s level range.
Are you considering any changes to how the Cooking profession works in Legion? What was the intent of the Nomi RNG research mechanic? Any ideas to make this less frustrating for players?
Blizzard didn't want to overwhelm players with questlines for secondary professions, so tried different things like time-gated questlines for Archaeology, the artifact for Fishing, world-drop items for First Aid. For Cooking, Blizzard used the Work Order system from Warlords of Draenor as progression. The randomness of it, in retrospect, a little too random. It feels like it's difficult to push and get a certain recipe you are after. In 7.1.5, the chance to get recipes has gone up pretty significantly.
Why were rank 3 shoulder recipes locked behind RBGs rather than regular battlegrounds or something with less of an entry barrier? Any plans to remedy some of the RNG issues when it comes to getting Rank 3 for some recipes for some professions?
Blizzard wanted to err on the side of rarity at first when designing recipe drops - especially shoulder recipes for
. The idea was to have Rank 3 efficiency be a challenge; players can obtain Rank 1 and 2 in an easier fashion.
Blizzard has gotten feedback from players who don't like this system; it doesn't feel good to be locked out of recipes because you don't like PvP. Blizzard is curious if non-PvPers that have acquired these recipes feel proud or not.
Gatherers without Rank 3 feels pretty punishing, especially if you've been regularly gathering -- Blizzard may look into making those recipes easier to acquire.
Archaeology is no longer about discovery - we do a quest every 2 weeks and then ignore digsites until the next quest. Can we find rares and uncommons while digging to make archaeology more engaging?
Less of a desire in Legion to go on an endless archaeology grind; this was intentional. Blizzard wanted fewer projects per race to finish this expansion so if you're farming pristines, the RNG is less painful.
That being said, something was lost. There's less of a desire, if you've earned the pristines, to do archaeology outside of the quests. There are plans to make Archaeology more attractive coming in 7.2. Once that comes on the PTR that should be testable, pretty soon.
Will you consider removing the dungeon requirements for Professions?
Removing dungeon requirements won't be coming; however if Blizzard did this quest system again in the future, they might be less dungeon heavy.
in particular feels a bit dungeon heavy. Professions are a place where Blizzard likes to experiment a little and try new things - it's ok if they feel different expansion to expansion.
Please consider making gathering professions a separate type of profession than crafting professions, so they do not take up the same profession slots.
This is a very popular question; Blizzard has been asked it since Classic and periodically discusses it - there are pros and cons. More professions takes away from the focus/identity of the character. But it's something Blizzard is always thinking about.
Many players ask for more profession slots because they feel bad getting rid of a profession they have invested a lot of time and rare recipes into--even if you relearn the profession, you won't get that rare recipe back. This is a problem that Blizzard is interested in solving.
Any chance for an item that we can use to reroll secondary stats on only crafted items like the ones in WoD?
Nope; if you wanted different secondary stats, Legion encourages you to craft another version of the item. The materials for crafting Legion items were calibrated around the idea that you'd make multiple of the same item along the way to getting your ideal version. The Obliterum Forge also went along with this; it provides a way to destroy the gear you don't like, to help you upgrade the items you like.
The emphasis on Artifact Weapons has deflated the weaponsmith fantasy of
. What are your plans going forward?
Agreed, this was a challenge designing
in Legion. To a lesser extent this affected
(guns) and Scribes (staves, wands). We tried to replace weapons with relics for those professions. It didn't fill the exact fantasy of a Weaponsmith though, and those relics aren't really desirable compared to current gear.
Blizzard will look at the quality of the relics in the future, and other cool things they can make like
Arnés de devorador de acero
. In 7.1.5,
can collect some old
that weren't obtainable for several expansions and have cool appearances.
Can we separate Timewalking from the other weekend events? We're at 9 events now, so that means over two months standing between you and your favorite event.
Interesting idea, but nothing planned now. Blizzard periodically removes less-relevant events (
Evento de bonificación apexis
). Timewalking however is meant to feel special. If you're really into Timewalking, it would feel nice to always Timewalk, but some of the special-ness of Timewalking comes from its rarity.
Important to think about how Timewalking fits in with regular dungeons; if it was always up, it wouldn't feel like a cool type of dungeon distinctive from Legion dungeons. It just becomes another type of Legion dungeon.
How about a better New Year's Eve/New Year's Micro-Holiday?
Maybe! New Year's Eve is one of the holidays that could be looked at and get some polish like other regular holidays. However New Year's Eve doesn't feel like a micro-holiday compared to the themes of the others. The micro-holidays are less about actual events and more about events that build the fantasy of Azeroth. Blizzard thought of the idea of a Murloc's New Year!
ever get a bank access function? So far
are better than
Blizzard considered adding this in 7.1.5 but decided not to - wanted to spread upgrades out and not pump
up too much as the best things ever. More updates for
are coming in more Legion patches - this could involve more updates for
None scheduled yet; Blizzard is aiming to do them once a month, so February is likely, but no details yet.
Legendary Drop Clarifications
new legendaries in 7.1.5
, players have been on the lookout for them! Blizzard has clarified several drop sources for legendaries - yes for Blingtron, no for fishing.
Just to confirm, this is intended and not a bug. Blingtron 6000's gift packages do have a chance of containing a legendary. He's a nice guy like that! (well, sometimes, at least.)
Can confirm that we believe the screenshot is indeed fake. After checking, there aren't any fishing pools that award Legendaries so if this player truly did get a Legendary, it's a bug.
